One of the very earliest Crocus to flower, the Snow Crocus never fails to raise a cheer as it bursts up through lawns and borders in late winter and early spring. Although smaller than the fat Dutch Crocus (Crocus vernus), the Snow Crocus spreads more prolifically and is distinguished by its variety of bicoloured forms. Crocus ‘Panda’ is a fine example, bearing two-tone flowers in deep purple and white, forming a dramatic contrast. Plant them in drifts through grass, beneath trees and shrubs or in winter containers to admire their exquisite beauty up close. Height: 15cm (6in). Spread: 5cm (2in).
